A Modest Proposal

Swift was trying to propose how to fix the economy in his country. He had different ideas on how to make each family more profitable. For example, he would have his children work and make money for the family. He wanted to stop beggars on the streets, he tried to come up with solutions that would provide them jobs. Swift wrote about how many people were having children, but could not support them. He was concerned about the growing number of people coming closer to poverty in his country. Swift talked about how hard it was to pay rent when people had no money or trade. Then landlords would take personal items from the family to make up for the rent that was not being payed off. He talked about abortions and how inhuman it was for families to be killing their own children.

Moive

The movie was a good eye opener about how our enviornment is falling apart. I think the people on the bus did a great job explaining the different problems that we are all facing on Earth. I strongly believe if everyone lived like the people on the bus that global warming and polution would decrease noticable. My theory about the situation that we are facing today is if kids were raised to eat organic foods and be more envorinmental friendly they would live a life that is safer for the envoirnment. I say this becuause we are like a sponge when we are younger, so if we were taught to treat the envorinment better it would happen.
I dont think I would ever be able to live on the bus. The hardest thing would to change my diet because I love meat, beacon, milk, and eggs. The second hardest thing in changing my life style would be buying all the organic things.

Lib. session and paper?

The libary session was very helpful in finding information about my research topic. The libarian was more than helpful with any questions or concerns I had through the couple of hours. The most helpful thing was the internet site that showed us how to look up books and find articals about our research topic. I definaitly would have struggled to find enough information without the libarian present on Monday. I think this is a very usefully tool to use in all English comp. classses. I strongly recomend this libary session in the furure.

The biggest concern I have about writing my paper is not finding enough valuable information to complete my paper effectively. My topic is a pretty broad, therefore it makes it a lot harder to narrow down information. My second biggest concern is siting all of the sources I use.

Cold Weather

The troubles due to the freezing cold temperature. My friend and I were about to leave for the mall last weekend and his car would not start. His car is a stick shift so we tried to push his car down the parking lot and jump the clutch. We thought this was going to be the easiest way out because we did not have jumper cables or anyone else around to give his car a jump. After about thirty minutes of pushing his car down the row of the parking lot someone final drove by and offered to jump his car.
Every Sunday my roommate and I walk to Taco Bell in the CSU, but last weekend was the first time we did not attend this once a week routine. The outside temperature was so cold we figured it was safer to eat at Gage caffiteria.
The worst thing about the cold weather is walking to class. The wind is so strong at the top of Gage hill sometimes it feels like you might blow off the sidewalk.

My favorite song

I don't have a favorite song, but I do have a favorite artist. Kenny Chesney is my favorite artist of all time. His songs have a lot of meaning that I can relate to in my life. I also love the fact that most of his songs are about sitting on the beach down in Mexico with friends having a good time. When I listen to these types of songs I sit back and think how enjoyable it would be sitting on the beach in Mexico, instead of sitting outside in Minnesota with the temperature being -10 degrees. "No shoes, No shirt, No problems" would be a great song of how he talks about living the life on the beach. One lyric from his song goes "The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom And no shoes, no shirt, and no problems." This song can take you from a bad day at work, to feeling good and thinking about having fun in the sun!

Fav. place

My favorite spot would have to be my cabin. My cabin is located on Cedar Lake, its about ten miles outside of Faribault. We have a fishing boat and two jet ski's which are a ton of fun. We always have our family over on the weekends we fish, swim, and do many other activities that are a lot of fun as well. We don't use our cabin in the winter season because we have no heat, but I do ice fish on Cedar Lake so i am out there in the winter too.
